Frequently Asked Questions

Montessori is a method of education that is based on Self directed activity, child centric curriculum and hands on learning. It is a Child focused approach found by Italian Physician, Dr. Maria Montessori, which is a scientifically based education approach that emphasises independence, freedom within limits, and respect for a child's natural psychological, physical, and social development.

Our classroom will have maximum of 30 children in a mixed age group with Montessori trained adults – 3 and 1 support staff, with an environment rich in knowledge and language. In Montessori classrooms children make creative choices in their learning with the materials, while the classroom and the highly trained teacher offer age-appropriate activities to guide the process.

Montessori Schools do not typically assign daily homework. Dr. Montessori believed that if we do not dictate the work of the child in class, then it does not make sense to dictate the work they choose at home. Therefore, traditional homework is kept to a minimum. Montessorians feel that children spend all day in the classroom learning and need their afternoons and evenings to pursue their personal interests, interact with their families and relax.

A fundamental truth permeates Montessori’s work: children are desperate to learn. Therefore, homework, in a Montessori sense, is work that the child does at home, as an extension of his or her educational exploration. Many activities may constitute homework, including household chores. Responsibilities at home help the child develop language skills and cultural awareness. Making math a real part of the home environment (pairing socks and counting by twos; dividing a pizza into equal pieces; shopping and making change) and giving the child a voice in family decisions are important to the child’s perception of math concepts and economic geography. Reading with and to your children every day will result in quality family time and confidence building.

A popular misconception of Montessori Education is for pre school only. But to be true, Montessori way of Education is available till 12th grade. We, at CSIS provide till Grade 5. Once the child enters a pre school at 2.5 years, it is important for the child to complete 3 years of her pre primary programme to complete one cycle, then entering into Grade 1, Elementary phase. It is important for every children to complete one phase without break to attain the real fruit of Montessori.

A growing body of research comparing Montessori students to those in traditional school suggests that in academic subjects, Montessori students perform as well as or better, academically and socially than their non Montessori peers. These benefits grow as children have more experience in a Montessori environment.

We have nearly 40 passed out students from Grade 5 who got well accommodated in Grade 6 of different schools.

Like all the milestones of children like roll over, crawling, walking are achieved in a particular period of time, they will naturally have the urge to write between 4 to 4.5 years of age. Until then we support the children with preparatory activities that will strengthen the small muscles of the hand, to practice proper finger grip to hold pencil, alphabet sounds, by which children will naturally attain the milestone of writing with ease rather any pressure.

We concentrate on the 4 main areas apart from the academic sessions, Physical fitness, Mental fitness, Social awareness and Technology Development. To strengthen these, we provide activities like Dance, Taekwondo, Indoor and Outdoor sports, Yoga, Keyboard, Art and craft, Horse riding, Swimming, Adventurous sports, Current affairs, Use of gadgets and Technology updates.
